Great angle and the mushroom certainly stands out. I would wonder however, if this would do better if you added a gradient mask so as to mute the saturation of surrounding elements in a non-selective manner and then boosted their shadows that that the focus remained solely on this deadly colorful mushroom in the foreground. just a thought

Great find! I would consider as a small critique to boost the blacks - image - adjustment - selective color (dropdown menu) black. so as to bring out some punch to the contrast

Oh - a white background would have brought about fantastic cohesion between the white highlights of the m&ms and the backdrop!

Lol actually your choice of crop and wonderful almost monochrome (well deceivingly so) background mad me notice I need to clean my monitor :D It would be nice to see some more punch to the image, an increased in the vividity of the orange and decrease in the noise in the green. Some additional playing with sharpening methods and adjustment layers could bring some serious punch to this

Beautiful job. Really nice image though admittedly the white seems to compete with the reds. perhaps in a selective desaturation you would be able to mute the other colors (but not eliminate them) to have the reds stand out more

A nice boost of the whites would really make this image pop nicely. Great idea

I love the white on white with the yellow yolk! I've explored food photography myself and white on white is NOT easy! It's actually a shame that you can't do some selective editing in this, some key dodging and burning could make this image pop and then some!

Gorgeous, simply and perfectly done really. the red stand out so well with the great lighting. A really nit-picky thing, but I think I would have preferred a crop taking out some of the right side. again really, imho. it still comes across as a great image, nit pick or not

Gorgeous shot! really nicely done, the color stands out so well on this. Admittedly which color is a small problem, but color in general is the main theme

The red really stands out for sure. It;s only my opinion, but I could see the whites boosted as even more white in this for even more dramatic contrast

great idea, the red does show as the idea behind which color should be prominent but in the particular image it shows as relatively equal with the greens and blue of the sky. A strictly vertical crop, with narrow width could perhaps bring the reds into more prominence (imho)

A wonderful idea with capturing this as night, but unfortunately there seems too many details lost in trying to determine what is in background. I wold suggest perhaps a repositioning, even from below so that the color takes dominance over anything in the background that one might be struggling to make out

Initial impression is really great on this, but in looking at it the second time I wonder if it would have been more effective cropped so that the light fixture does not interfere with the great interaction between the brilliant red and the fantastic background.

OH I live the grittiness of the column, love the background, in terms of composition however, the post seems in the wrong place. I'd suggest rules of thirds, but an even more interesting composition could take it one step further. Otherwise, really wonderful combination of elements, it has a certain speech to it that I admit I can't put my finger on

It would be great to see this with bright sunlight involved, to cast some needed shadow areas and highlights to bring out depth and texture in the image

aw ok :) well my honest critique? This is a good start, but in terms of post processing there's a lot that can be done to really make this image a winner (in my really humble opinion - honestly I'm not an expert). For one thing I would crop it in, focus on the yellow as on the third (rule of thirds baby!)/ Once that is done you would need to punch up the contrast very seriously until it's nothing but blackest of black and whitest of whites, then boost the vividity of the yellow until what you are essentially left with is a super black an white almost spotty image with a bright splash of yellow streaking across a key compositional area

The blue greens of the stem/bark detract a bit from what could otherwise be a fanastic green against burgundy background. Perhaps a slight change of angle could isolate it more clearly and bring it out more? Overall beautiful sharpness though, and lovely vividity to the image that makes me want to see more of the series you might have taken

Great composition! The angle is completely unexpected and not one that a person would normally thing about but adds such personality and character to the image :D

Nice idea - it's tough to take into account so many elements and still have a clear presentation of a single color standing out. Some increased contrast might even add more to the image by heightening the black and white and otherwise monochrome components in the background

In considering flowers, it might be an idea to position oneself so the background consists more of leaves, a background layer of green in which the single bud can stand out more. I find trying different angles when I get home can help me realize that even standing on my toes can make a difference, or zooming in closer

Nice standing out against the background, it really shows well on the deceptively almost singly color of the backdrop.

It would be nice to see the colors pop more - if using Raw, the vividity in Adobe raw can make quite a difference in bringing out the bue and greens in the glass against the background. This could also work very nicely as a selective desaturation contest image, though admittedly, the horizon could be better straight. Great find though in an idea.

Gorgeous color and crispness on this, it's a wonderfully sharp capture that heightens the idea of crystal ice. My one critique would be on the composition in the sense that rule of thirds could work better in this case, or even going so far as a square crop, which would even more nicely on the beautiful part of what you have capture and bring it to the forefront.

THe blend of colors is really nice, good earthy tones. Perhaps better without the interruption of the insects but overall a nicely almost homely feel

Beautiful sharpness on this, it has an almost stained glass look to it with it's crystal clarity and vivid color
