I would recommend avoiding gimmicks (no offense) in the future. It's a very cool execution, but a good logo should stand out based on it's own merit.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't read anything "dumb" in her comment. It sounds more like she thought your image was emotionally thought provoking (conveyed the sense of sadness) then was sad in a poor quality sense. Please refrain from jumping off the handle if someone upsets you. Instead flag the comment so a moderator can deal with it. Thanks.
