the shape and shading are good... my only concern is the flawlessness of the "new skin". perhaps you should have thrown in some age spots and/or lines.

trial and error.
i took a high rez stock photo (free, of course)and then took a picture of johnny and june and made it into a tritone of three different shades of blue. after that, i applied a few different filters (i want to say crosshatch and dry chalk and charcoal maybe?) and then added them over top in different blending modes (mostly soft light and multiply). i'd then go back in and smudge things around, erase with a lower percentage on my eraser (using grunge brushes the whole time, mostly). then in the end i took the orignal image and drew the highlights and lowlights off if it with the color selector. i'm guessing that by the time i was done i had merged about a total of thirty or so layers.
