The rogue lion was known as Eetwidomayloh-"He who greets with fire" and this solitary male was the scourge of the region. The men hunted for him all day with no success. At dusk they made for their camp cutting through the tall grass. They practically walked right on top of the lion. All three were caught unawares but a shout from his guide caused the lion to hesitate ever so slightly in his charge giving Berrington the chance to fire one shot at point blank range...References and inspiration

Watercolor enhanced in photoshop.sourceI liked using a gesso/sobo glue ground to create the water reeds and basic textures and color in this piece. I then scanned to pse to paint with clone tool and select tool and eraser tool.(Mostly with a calligraphy style brush at 11-22 opacity.)
