Some octopus's (octopis?), old freakshow posters and a lot of nautical stuff referenced.
The clowns were always my favorite part of the circus. And in everyday life you can find one nearby almost always.
When I saw this acrobat, I really liked the rope wrapping around her leg. I kept the background blank to emphasize her isolation while suspended and I also wanted to emhasize her physique ;) with the shading and highlights. (The whole rock on/I love you hand gesture was just part of her pose - no hidden meaning)I was going for a monotone look with something like conte and smeared soft pastel. I did the sketch in pencil on copy paper, scaned it, and the rest was in PS. please let me know suggestions/comments?
For some reason the Circus life always seemed depressing to me. Maybe it was that movie I saw as a kid with the sad drunk clown. Anyway I tried to capture that feeling in this picture.

I hate clowns, although this one is pittyfull...
