Spiderwort wildflowers have a very short life - only a single morning - but each plant will produce 20 or more flowers per stem. The flowers are very small about the size of a dime or a penny. The petals quickly decompose after blooming and the entire plant is edible. Native Americans used it to prepare "medicinal teas" and poultices.Small, wonderous, useful, beautiful, fragile and fleeting but a survivor. Mother Earth is very efficient and she does it beautifully :)
Inside the Mammoth Caves, Kentucky National Park. Good-luck to everyone.
