As photographers, we often talk about compositional rules, the latest lenses, what f-stop should be used in a certain situation etc., but what it all boils down to is the final image and are we getting across more than just a reproduction of what is in front of our eyes. Can we elicit a sense of joy, wonder, amazement, sadness, hope, mystery, angst, life, death, eternity? In essence, try to capture something that is not concrete.

This is your challenge. Your entry can be set-up as a studio type shot, it may be candid, journalistic, landscape, portraiture, whatever... but must be in black and white (no sepia, no toning) and must attempt to express something, which will be of your own choice.

Special Rules:This round will allow PRO rules. This means you will be allowed to selectively manipulate your images, blur certain parts, dodge and burn and a plethora of other goodies. If you are not sure of what is allowed, click on the link for the New Photo Rules at the bottom of this contest or ask your team captain for clarification.

Important The photograph submitted must be taken expressly for this contest, during the week the submission is open, no shoeboxing during the team tournament will be allowed.

Again, in this round, I've decided to help things be more fun also by allowing fun borders in this one.. so, be creative, put borders that you think will be appropriate to the subject of your photograph, as long as you are following our rules (when in doubt, ask your team captain) and most importantly , have fun! :-)

NOTE: Quality will be strictly enforced in this contest.
