Movie posters have to do more than just list the title or cast. They have to let the public know, at a glance, what kind of film they're selling. Is it a wacky comedy? A light-hearted romance? Serious Oscar material? By using certain tropes and cliches, a good poster can make this obvious. But what if the designer gets it wrong?
In this contest, we want you to take advantage of these standard idioms to repackage an old movie as a different genre. Use the same cast and the same plot, but give the movie a different buzz. Make "Amadeus" look like an action flick. Market "Toy Story" as a slasher film. Create a poster for the toe-tapping musical "Sin City".
Have fun, be creative. Don't forget the cliche list. As always, quality is a must. We will remove poor entries no matter how much we like you. You'll have 48 hours for this contest, so make your submission count.
