Just as I thought, “It ought to be
That once you’re caught, you’re not set free,
Let villains rot! Cast out the key!”
They got the wrong identity.

My cell had naught a luxury,
(Just as I thought it ought to be)
I begged, distraught, for truth’s decree
But begging brought futility.

I had one shot to state my plea,
And prove their plot conspiracy--
Just as I thought! It ought to be
A contest fought with equity

Blind barons sought to refute me;
Their jurors bought the falsity
Their ill-wrought verdict would not be
Just-- As I thought it ought to be

A light shines brightly in her eyes,
a beaming fire in disguise.
A soul so rich in love divine,
a part of nature’s great design.

Her mind so pure, so fair and wise,
A light shines brightly in her eyes.
It all shows through when closely seen,
a heart so fresh and sweet and clean.

A wonder of this world so vast,
In all of time none have surpassed.
A light shines brightly in her eyes,’
She hears her baby's new born cries.

A mother is a gift of gold,
To all the world both young and old.
She is nature's greatest prize,
A light shines brightly in her eyes.

The dancing colors, shining bright
Competing with the firelight
Upon the Christmas tree they glow
Making patterns out on the snow

Special creature that brings delight
The dancing colors, shining bright
Fluttering from flower to stem
Signaling the winter’s cold end.

Children playing on sea and sand
Cause them to rise, far ‘bove the land
The dancing colors, shining bright
Are scraps of fabric, taking flight

Gliding gently and falling down
Blanketing autumn’s windswept ground
The trees release them from great height
The dancing colors, shining bright

My love, my life, I give to you!
From the first day we met, I knew
you were the one I'd commit too.
Before you came, I had no clue.

That love so deep, could be so true!
My love, my life, I give to you!
When I was one, I dreamed of two.
You alone made my dreams come true.

Many told me to change my view.
That a love like that, no one knew.
My love, my life, I give to you!
For in my heart our love did brew.

The days marched on, our children grew.
Love in my heart, still strong and true.
What would I have done without you?
My love, my life, I give to you!

I loved him before I knew him
And now I’m dying without him
I will never know his laughter
Nor will I ever know his cry

He lived to die and died to live
I loved him before I knew him
And now I’m crying without him
He died without knowing he lived

My boy is gone and I’m still here
I felt him kick and felt him stir
I loved him before I knew him
But now he’s gone and I must live

I’ll hold him in my arms somehow
And someday he’ll know what love is
But for now, I’ll live and I’ll cry
I loved him before I knew him

It is a dark and stormy night
And you are not here. It’s only
Me, alone with the fire’s light.
Since you left, I’ve been so lonely.

Without you I cannot forget
It is a dark and stormy night.
I try to control my upset,
When a knock causes me a fright.

Shall I open the door despite
My fear of who might be there when
It is a dark and stormy night?
I screw up my courage, and then...

You stand there on my welcome mat
My love, you’ve come to reunite?
At your “yes”, I soon forget that
It is a dark and stormy night.

The tears fall as I watch her sleep
Laying there, helpless and alone
She is not aware that I weep
As she drifts into the unknown

My heart breaks to see her so frail
The tears fall as I watch her sleep
Her once proud face is gaunt and pale
Her once proud life, broken and cheap

The decline was fast, the hill steep
From the top of the world, she fell
The tears fall as I watch her sleep
Her body battling her hell

She holds to life with tubes and wires
And machines that go beep…beep…beep
And in her pain, she still inspires
The tears fall as I watch her sleep

Lying low in the trenches deep,
the heat seeks to find a way in.
I pray softly, his soul to keep,
as tears start to fall from my chin.

My darling fights a world away,
lying low in the trenches deep.
He's fighting now, both night and day,
for those at home who gently sleep.

One day soon, in his arms I'll weep,
but now I have only one dream:
lying low in the trenches deep,
the thought of me makes his eyes gleam.

Pulling my mind from reverie,
I draw his old shirt from the heap.
Steam smooths the fabric, steadily
lying low in the trenches deep.

Writing Quaterns is difficult,
Only eight syllables a line,
Sometimes it is impossible,
To create the perfect end rhyme.

Searching for words inside your head,
Writing Quaterns is difficult,
With each new line comes brand new dread,
Each word a new mental assault.

Sometimes it rhymes and some times not,
Finding end rhyme is asinine,
Writing Quaterns is difficult,
If done right they can be sublime.

Worth1000 consumes my mind,
Waiting to find the end result,
With text and photoshop contests,
Writing Quaterns is difficult.

He said ‘Easy come easy go.’,
so I went outside easily.
He followed behind me and so
I sat and we talked until three.

’What do you think of life?’ I asked.
He said ‘Easy come easy go.’
Hmmm I thought, and so more time passed.
I considered what else he’d know

‘Think of time and space, ebb and flow,
how the ice melts in the spring time.
He said ‘Easy come easy go.’
The sun now set. The stairs I climb.

Such simple philosophy knew
my thoughts out the window he'd throw.
When asked what it all boiled down to,
He said ‘Easy come easy go.’
