My vacation trip is all about relaxing. What could be more relaxing than a cabin at the lake and a dog to join me on hikes. This is quite small (about 6 x 15 cm) so I can take it with me on business trips and pretend I am on a holiday!
Wonder if they will survive the evening?
I'd like to someday go diving in the Great Barrier Reef or someplace. I guess I'd better learn how to swim, then, eh? ;)My daughter helped me a bit on this one. She donated the toys and helped set it up. That's about all the interest she had in this project, unfortunately. Here is a link of just the box. I worked very hard on this box, tiling, stamping, coloring, caulking, etc. There are beads, and rocks, and tiles, and glass. The words in the fish say, "Listen to the sea..." The box itself is a jewelry box, and is only about 4 inches square. I wish I had mini scuba equipment. :) Please view full, and good luck to everyone else! :D
Dio de las muertas, or Day of the Dead, is celebrated at the beginning of November. Last year, in school, I took a class all about it, and made this diorama as a tribute to loved ones who have passed. It was supposed to be in the art show at the end of the class, at the Day of the Dead celebration on campus, but I was too shy to do it. This is the first time anyone outside of my family has seen this. I think it would be the most awesome "vacation" ever, if I could visit them! So, I am submitting this diorama here. (Thanks, Eury)A bit of explanation about the items in the diorama:~the material are scarves and shawls that belonged to my mother or that I knew she'd like~the tall candle on the left, the unicorn in the rear, and the doll on the right (a music box) were gifts to me from my grandmother~my grandparents are in the picture on the left, my mother on the right (as a child and adult)~the sugar skulls I made myself, and the large one on the left is decorated with my mother's name, Linda~The bowl and glass are for food and water for the dead when they visit on day of the dead, the candles are to light the way, and the paper cutouts I made (miniature versions - they're about 2 inches wide) and those are basically just for decoration. ~The candle in the front on the right is vanilla scented, my mothers favoriteThere are supposed to be some flowers, too. Marigolds, because they smell like bones, supposedly. They were to be added at the show, so that is why there are none in the photo. That's about it. I hope you enjoy my entry. Thank you. Here and here are more pictures from the celebration at my school.
You can have a look at the details, if you want to.
I love rock climbing...Be sure to see the back and front!
I think this is all about someone just getting out of the office at random. Sometimes you just need a last second holiday, you know? The case is a car ash tray. Unfortunately the car it belongs to is far away so I can't put it in yet...See it without the water (views of coral) here and here. See it closed here.
I want to go to the Olympics someday. I would love to be there now, cheering on Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. Here are a couple extra shots. Close Up Different angleIt didn't help that I was moving it to take a picture and tripped. Oops. Sand and stars everywhere! :P
There's a story behind this one.I made it for a little girl. She is 5, extremely clever, and will start school in September. For some reasons, school might not always be easy for her, so I made her this. She loves going on imaginary journeys, and this might be a retreat where she can let her mind wander. A fairy-girly-fluffy dreamland.Who would not want to spend their vacations there (I mean, who of the female population under, let's say, ten)? :DHere are some details, if you're into even more glitter. ;)
