This mysterious figure may serve as protection, thwarting potential invasion to keep safe what lies beyond the gate. Or, it might be there to ensure that whatever is on the other side doesn't find its way out. Whatever the reason, a Gatekeeper has but one goal - to stand guard over a mysterious gate or magical portal of some sort.
Your task in this contest is to create an image of a fantastical gatekeeper. Human, humanoid, android... the species and its appearance is entirely up to you. You're bound only by the limits of your imagination.
You may not use any existing fantasy/sci fi images as sources for this contest, whether from films, paintings or wherever. Your creation must be put together from mundane source photos.
As fantasy art is rarely photographic in nature all images are "to be judged on consistent style not necessarily photorealism", the goal of the contest is to create cool art, not a hoax. As always, have fun, be creative!, follow the guidelines please, and be careful to avoid using any cliches. You will have 48 hours to submit so make your entry count!
