"As I approached the house from the now overgrown driveway, making my way through the trash and leaf litter...the clouds overhead parted slightly, letting in thin beams of eerie moonlight, which glinted off the broken shards of glass in the windows. All but one of them of them anyway.

This window was upstairs in the master bedroom, and was the largest in the house. I thought it very strange that it had avoided the rocks of scared neighborhood kids for so many years, when all the others had not. Until I heard a shrill noise that set the hairs on my neck on edge, my eyes water, and made me feel like I had just been chewing on tinfoil, while someone scratched their nails on a chalkboard. I put my hands over my ears, and tried to locate where it was coming from. As my eyes scanned the house, a blinding, sickly yellow light shot its way through the dusty panes, blinding me in the darkness.

At least the noise stopped I thought...and then the truth behind the light became clear. Far too clear."
