The Hippocamp is born with flippers, and they gradually morph to hooves as the creature gets older. So this is a baby Hippocamp, probably only 3 months old, which is why it let the photographer get so close to it. Fortunately the momma was nowhere to be seen....Aww this was tons of fun. I had to stop myself from going crazy drawing hairs. Compression killed the hundreds of little hairs that I drew, view full to see them. I drew all of them on the mane, eyelashes, ears, and muzzle. Without a graphics tablet, I might add :P
