This is an Intermediate level contest

In this month's Darkroom contest we want you to get to know the power of blend modes, and how they can be used to add in glow and light to a scene. Your job is to light up some or all of the light sources in your picture in the most realistic or pleasing way possible. Light that cozy fire, or that warming porchlight, or the streetlamps in your gangsta-style album-cover shot! :D

The way to do this is twofold - create an adjustment layer that brightens up areas controlled by a mask, or paint in color on a layer set to a blending mode like Linear Dodge. Try them both out :)

Low flow-rates and soft brushes will give the best results. Check out this Photoshop tutorial by DakotaBoy88 on how a scene can be darkened as well, since it might help your lights pop more!

Feel free to link to an original image; you can upload a small version to your media folder and link that in your Author's comments :)

Good luck!
