When a studio shot is defined as a shot in a controlled setting, then this is the ultimate studio shot for me ;-) I filled a balloon with glitter and popped it while using a sound trigger to trigger the flash. The glitter keeps the shape of the balloon due to inertia, while the balloon retracts.
We had set up a small stage using 7 or so theater lights in the studio, a smoke machine and a softened fill flash from the cam to get the right skin tone.

Shot with a single strobe through an umbrella to the right of the camera. I could have added a fill card to the left, but personally, I like high contrast in my photos.
