I woke to sky of moonlit blue
And came to you
For the last time,
To make you mine.

I know, my love, that you are made
To age and fade
Like dimming light
At fall of night.

Accept my kiss, then come with me
Stay young, be free
Though still a slave -
To blood, and grave.

Softly falling, floating, drifting
Sugar sifting
Flake by small flake
Frosting the cake.

No bright lightning; no loud thunder
See the wonder
White on whiter
Newer; brighter.

I wish I could see it again
From my snug den
Fireplace snapping
Snow house wrapping.

The other day I killed a man
and then I ran,
law on my tail
and scared of jail.

I called my Mama, said "Don't cry,"
then said goodbye,
pain in my voice:
"I had no choice."

I wish that I could change my fate
but it's too late,
can't hide for long
God, keep me strong.

Words that have no rhyme in English --
besides gibb’rish --
are, more than not,
a bright hued lot.

Why do colors vex poets so
(Well, just ask Poe,
does “purple” rhyme?
is “silver” prime?);

They work just fine in common prose.

...Though no one knows,
the word “orange”
sounds like “door-hinge.”

My Mother’s garden smells so sweet
When summer’s heat
Cause fragrant swells
Of perfumed smells.

My Mother’s garden has its plans
Flowers on stands
Ter’cotta pots
Forget-me-nots.

My Mom’s garden is full of grace
As flowers face
Up to the sun
In unison.

We yearned for a place we could meet
discreet but sweet
soft warm and dark
near a small park

Not enough time to be lovers
frustration - hers
depression - mine
never the time

Once fantasy flew through the air
now just despair
catastrophic
melancholic

You fed that cat, she wouldn’t leave.
Don’t you believe
The caveats?
Don’t feed stray cats!

At night she came, yowling round
Annoying sound;
But you left food –
And often viewed.

One day you tried to touch her fur,
Gone in a blur.
The dream that she,
Your cat, would be.

Ocean waves tumble with a roar.
Sand is my floor;
Sun blinds my eyes.
All silent lies.

Romance is the promise of time.
Tears show my crime.
My love has left;
My heart bereft.

This is the place where we first met.
Never forget
My love was true
‘Though I hurt you.

Be sure to tip fifteen percent
Of what you spent;
That’s how you should
If it was good.

Even more, and it’s guaranteed,
For your good deed,
You’ll get (maybe)
Something for free.

Any less, and, before you go,
You ought to know,
That they’ll be rude
And ruin your food.

Foul thoughts cloud my mind on this night
not what is right
of deeds to do
and who is due

Revenge: The act of reprisals,
beckons and calls
strengthens my will
to make the kill

I creep up behind like cats paws
fingers are claws
neck is exposed
fingers are closed
