Dogs require a lot of attention, cats are bossy, rodents don't live long enough, spiders are just eeeeeew and fish are plain boring. What are we to do for pets? We're artists - let's make our own!
Your task is to create a pet out of any material that inspires you. Some options are paper, Mylar, wire, fabric, clay, slices of roast beef or even parcel tape (as in the adorable themepost by Kookaburra), but don't limit yourself. Look around the house - almost anything has the potential to become a pet.
Your pet can be realistic or imaginary but must be pet-like - no snarling guard dragons please.
We are looking for a single animal not a herd. Your pet needs to be 3 dimensional, not an illustration.
Upload a photo of your creation. You may include ONLY ONE photo in your entry (no collage/multiple angles), however, feel free to link multiple angle photos in your comments.
Please set up your pet in front of a plain background: a sheet of paper or cloth or just a white wall are sufficient. Although this is not a photo contest, please make sure the picture is in focus; if we cannot see your artwork properly, you risk disqualification.
You have 21 days to craft a creature, so get out that DNA and start experimenting.
Hit List:
Live animals of any kind.
Dead animals of any kind, for that matter.
2 dimensional pets - we all know animals are not flat!
Dust bunnies, mall rats, cat-o-nine-tails, Dogs of War.
