Oh, how we love our celebrities. Such pretty people... walking around with their lovely little faces and their perfectly white teeth and their professionally styled hair and their expensive designer clothes. They're the image of human perfection, right?
Caricature illustrations have a natural way of drawing attention to the more prominent features of a person's face (think, Jay Leno's extraordinary chin, or Sarah Jessica Parker's horse-face), and that's just good-natured fun. Well, what if we made caricatures just a little less good-natured? That could only mean MORE fun!
The theme of this contest is to create an unflattering caricature of a celebrity. A "cruelicature", if you will. A caricature of Sarah Jessica Parker looking a little long in the face? Meh. A caricature of Sarah Jessica Parker looking rather horse-like and eating from a trough? Now you're getting it.
We're setting the age rating to 13+ which means that tasteful nudity is permitted (bare breasts and butts are okay, no genitalia or depictions of sexual acts, though), and we're allowing for some degree of cruelty and wickedness. Know the difference between a caricature and a stereotype? Good. We do, too. (Examples of such stereotypes would be race, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities.)
If you find yourself wondering whether or not your entry is crossing a line, we encourage you to contact an illustration admin via private message. We are more than happy and willing to offer our advice and opinions, especially if it might help you to avoid a potential disqualification.
The rules of the game are thus: In any style or medium, illustrate the theme "Cruelicatures" in accordance with Worth's illustration contest rules. NO PHOTO TRACING OR PAINTOVERS. LINK YOUR REFERENCES. As always, quality is a must. You'll have fourteen (14) days for this contest, so make your submission count.
