In tonight's photoshop matchup we have an 8-Way contest featuring Cameon vs. DragonTat7 vs. EyEars vs. Keveller vs. Zakfuego. They have chosen 'Myth Creatures: MERMAIDS' as the theme for their match and the stakes are bragging rights only.

The rules for this contest are simple:

A mermaid is a mythological aquatic creature with a human head and torso and the tail of an aquatic animal such as a fish. The word is a compound of mere, the Old English word for "sea", and maid, a woman. The male equivalent is a merman, however the term mermaid is sometimes used for males.

Various cultures throughout the world have similar figures, typically depicted without clothing.

Folklore suggests s/he may help or harm humans, inhabit underwater kingdoms (or queendoms) and that their strange, beautiful singing has lured many unwary sailors to their watery doom.

But what is the truth about mermaids?
Is the classic depiction accurate?
How does a mermaid really look and live?
