CONTEST DESCRIPTION

In this free contest, your task is to design a logo for Science of Imagination Laboratory. The client is a cognitive scientist, working as an assistant professor at Carleton University in Ottawa. He runs a laboratory in which he studies how people create visual scenes in their heads. That is, how do people picture things? They use psychology experiments, philosophical analysis, and artificial intelligence to explore this problem.

The design will appear on website, posters, letterhead, and other printed material.

PRIZES

  • The top entry that the client chooses will receive $300.

  • The top voting winner will get 100 credits.

CLIENT RULES

  • Logos must contain the words "Science of Imagination Laboratory". This is not cAsE SeNsItIvE. Optionally, you may include the web-address "www.scienceofimaginationlab.org" and/or "SOIL".

  • The logo can contain any number of colors. The colors should not be gender specific. The logo should look good in monochrome.

  • Entries may contain gradients. Keep in mind the logo will be used in a variety of sizes.

  • The client want's you to keep in mind that they are a serious scientific lab and that there is a danger that word "imagination" will make them look 'fluffy'. The client doesn't want the logo to contribute to this misconception. The logo should not be trendy (that is, it should look good in 30 years). Their target audience is primarily other scientists and, to a smaller extent, the general public.

  • Your logo should represent imagination and serious scientific study.

  • The client is open to symbol options. If you use the abbreviation "SOIL", it needs to relate the meaning of soil to the Earth and growth rather than dirty (like "soiling your pants.").

  • Any font may be used. Please upload your font to your corporate files area.

  • The logo files must be vector.

  • Before entering this contest you must read this thread.

GENERAL RULES

  • Please upload your vector file (.ai or .eps) to the corporate files attachment area at the time you submit an entry (you will be prompted after uploading your image).

  • Do not enter slight variations of your logo as separate entries. Enter them as a single entry.

  • Fancy background presentation is not allowed. Solid color backgrounds, that's it.

  • Please leave some white space at the bottom of your entry so the worth1000 watermark doesn't overlap it.

  • Any questions about what is desired by the client may be sent to corporate@worth1000.com.

  • The client will be granted the full rights to all aspects of the submission of their choice as a work-for-hire in exchange for the prize mentioned above.
