In tonight's photo effects matchup we have a 4-way matchup featuring DragonTat7 vs. cameon vs. solipsism vs. Onanymous.
They have chosen "FANTASY2.0 XII: Feathers" as the theme for their match and the stakes are bragging rights.
The rules for this contest are thus: This month you are to create a fantasy image featuring at least one feather. From writing implements, masks, hats and divas to something outrageous or magical.
The feathers should be used more as materials/objects/products/left-overs OR heavily fantasy-ized, the feather does not have to be the main subject but should be easily seen as such. (Hit List (meaning do not create): "humanoid/monster with wings"/"icarus"/"angel" images 1,2,3, or using unaltered mundane and intact bird parts as your image, ie, sticking an owl in it is not using feathers, nor is sticking a turkey neck on a carrot, edit the feathers "individually" as much as possible, and if you start with a feather mask you should do A LOT of work on it)
NEW RULE: YOU MAY NO LONGER USE EXISTING "VISUAL" MEMES AS YOUR IMAGE. IF YOUR IMAGE LOOKS LIKE IT IS "RIGHT OUT OF x", WHERE x IS SOME SORT OF VISUAL MEDIA (warcraft, harry potter, transformers, steve jackson lord of the rings movies, some popular anime)THEN YOU WILL BE INSTANTLY DISQUALIFIED you may use non-visual literary references and recreate characters in your OWN style, but do not make them look like bad copies of already popular VISUAL characterizations. THIS IS SO THAT YOUR WORK IS JUDGED ON *YOUR* CREATIVITY NOT MILKING THE POPULARITY OF SOMEONE ELSE'S *visual* (as opposed to text writing) CREATIVITY. We are heavily leaning on visual ORIGINALITY of style from now on, your image should excite people for its own merits not because they already like one set of images and yours is just more of the same designer. PM me if this is not clear for examples.
Entrants should build any fantasy elements of their entry from scratch using
non-fantasy sources (ie. DO NOT USE multimedia created by another artist like:
Paintings, CGI, Renderings, Fantasy Sculpture, Photomontages, Movie/TV images
or Toys). Entrants MAY USE photos of scientifica, antiquities and
renaissance-faire-like costumes. VOTERS should knock extra points off of entries
in violation and particularly obvious abuses should be flagged for disqualification.
All normal Worth photo effects rules apply unless otherwise stated above.
The players will have until 11:59 pm Worth time on Sunday, January 31st to submit their entries, followed by a voting period of 3 days.
Competitors are reminded to maintain anonymity during the contest.
