My own version of the mythological creature, half eagle and half lion.

I'll let you decide whom they're growling at. :)
This was originally created to be a bookcover for Peter Beagle's story "The Last Unicorn". In that story, the unicorn is described as being very delicate and deer-like, completely unlike a horse. She searches for her kin, and meets her foe, the Red Bull. This is a quote from the point in the book where the Unicorn first meets the Red Bull:"He was the color of blood, not the springing blood of the heart but the blood that stirs under an old wound that never really healed. A terrible light poured from him like sweat, and his roar started landslides flowing into one another. His horns were as pale as scars. For one moment the unicorn faced him, frozen as a wave about to break. Then the light of her horn went out, and she turned and fled."
It's been ages since I've done an Illo! It was nice to muck around again.
This was fun! I just wanted to show a very large, powerful animal fascinated by a tiny one, and maybe thinking about a playful pounce.
