In this phantasmagorical scene, the artist blends medieval, Asian, and nautical influences to create a fantastically vivid dreamscape. The title, "A New Power is Rising...," leaves the viewer with far more questions than answers. The newly-risen sea creature holds on high a piece of earth, on which stands a tree and exotic animals that are silhouetted against the combative sky. It is unclear from where this island comes: was in always in the harbor, or did it emerge with the giant from the depths of some abyss? What's clear is that the island's arrival - and the new power it forebodes - is not welcomed by the current inhabitants.

This is a recently discovered work from surrealist artist, Salvador Dali (May 11,1904-January 23,1989), it is entitled "The Last Tree On Earth". This striking image depicts a lone tree surviving a third world war. Dali drew himself as the stone savior, going as far as shaving his famous mustashe and his entire head. Four photos of the shaved Dali staring in a mirror as he paints, were taped on the back of this work. Dali was quoted as saying, "Man will always be at war with himself, and the Earth will be his final conquest, even if he has to destroy it to claim victory."

Nothing is perfect. The First Earth was no exception. Life had dwindled into war and chaos, with darkness invading every nook and cranny of the world. With torment and rage across the surface, a new canvas was needed. The Maker creates of the broken Earth a being which would in turn create a new world devoid of the terrors of the old, at least for a few moments. Thus, the Second Earth was created.

In his quest for revenge, Otos has found The Tree of Life!
He rips it from the sea and thrusts it into the doubting Sky.
The Sky is torn and shocked at Otos's victory and cannot help but crackle with anticipation over the conclusion of the battle. Poseidon`s roar of anger from the depths of the sea is louder than the thunder and flashes with the lightning.
The birds of the world hear the call from The Tree of Life and flock to its branches and shade.
Once again, Man is caught not knowing who to fight or where to flee.

Poseidon, disrespected God and angered father, goes after Odysseus. He causes unrest in the seas; waves ten feet higher than the ships attack the mortal. His fleet shrinks to one. Frightened for their lives, the men realize that they have angered Poseidon and their only chance of survival is to get on land. They aim for the nearest shore with hope in their hearts. With one final idea Odysseus hoists the mainsail. It seems the God’s are finally in their favor as the ship slices through the storm straight for the island. Poseidon cannot let these mortal humans escape his wrath and insult his son. As one last attempt to defeat his enemy, Poseidon shoots himself out of the water; almost double the size of a Cyclops. To show his brother, Zeus, that he will not send the Earth to a watery grave Poseidon lifts a tree teeming with life above his head and bellows a resounding cry. Sentries on the island, terrified for their lives shoot at him but to no avail. Poseidon drops back into the water, waves cascading around his disappearing form. The ship had been wrecked with only one survivor: Odysseus.

An adapted version of Polyphemus the Cyclops encounter with Odysseus (Greek myth). As soon as I saw this picture my mind thought: Poseidon.

The Romans were claimed to have a secret invasion of Greece planned in 100bc. The Greeks learned about it, and Greece came together, and prayed to their gods. On the planned day of battle Greece waited, and prepared for battle, but the Romans never showed. The Greeks sent praise to their gods, offering sacrifice, and gifts. Little did they know what happened on the Romans end. This was painted by an very talented anonymous Roman painter of the horrific battle that day. It is said that when the Romans prepared to go to battle, and claim Greece an unknown god lunged out of the ocean giving such a roar that it is said all of Rome shook. He roared "LEAVE GREECE ALONE, OR GREECE WILL RULE ROME, AND YOU WILL ALL BE SLAVES"! Carrying a small plot of land with animals on it, placed it in a safe place, before smashing the Roman's wall with such immense force that the wall flew backwards killing thousands of Roman's, before returning into the sea taking a few Roman ships with it. They knew on that day that Greece had a force watching out for them, and recanted their plans for invasion.
