I wanted to show the moments just before a battle. I also wanted to show a sorta typical Dungeons & Dragons group of adventurers (overburdened by loads of equipment). I chose not to show their opponents - that's up to the viewer's imagination.I also did this at a ridiculously big size, so here are a couple of 100% details 1 2 3

The skulls represent the countless generations of those who have fallen in battle, while the figure embodies the atavistic stupidity of battle, which destroys so many innocent lives.
Watercolor, gouache and oil wash. This was tricky getting the reference for, since I usually take my own, but this time I had to piece a lot of different photos together, since I don't have any armor on hand!
Guess, they have to resolve all their differences in the next hours...
Gunslinger Girl has landed on a planet populated by hostile plant-forms. Her and her band of mercenaries are finding it difficult as the indigenous lifeforms spray a toxic combination of blinding sap and paralysing nectar.
