Okay, this one's a doozy! I've actually been wanting to do a Star Wars sculpture for a while. More specifically, Vader. I mulled around lots of different ideas on what he should be doing, I settled on something that technically "could" have happened in the context of "The Empire Strikes Back."

This is based on a scene that was cut from the final edit of the film. Originally there was to be a scene where several of the snow creatures, "Wampas" found their way into the Rebel's Echo Base. Apparently rather than kill the creatures the Rebels were able to trap them inside a storage room and shut the door keeping them safe. There was a sticker placed on the door warning of the contents of the room and that was that. In the original edit, as Han and Leia and 3PO were fleeing towards the hanger, 3PO in a rather clever moment had the foresight to peel the sticker off the door. Moments later a squad of Snowtroopers thinking rebels might be hiding inside...rather unfortunately decided to enter the room. Hilarity ensued. I imagine this sculpture could be what happened immediately after. Vader, finding his Snowtroopers dispatched....decided to take matters, and Wampas into his own hands.

There's TONS of details in this thing, it's HUGE...(over 12 inches tall.... 9 boxes of super sculpy later!)

I cannot photograph it to my satisfaction.... so here's a couple of other views!

Vader Closeup
Wampa Closeup
Ground Closeup (notice the Snowtrooper helmet, and the discarded warning sticker!)

A slimy piece of worm-ridden filth...

When I started this, my intent was to just do Jabba, but what's Jabba without his throne... or Salacious Crumb... or Bib Fortuna? So, I made them all.

I first made his platform from styrofoam and air dry clay, but it cracked horribly and once I put the hooka & back piece on, Jabba's tail hung off the end. So I made another larger one from cardboard covered with a sheet of foil and a super thin layer of polymere. I was totally nervous when I baked it & sat on the floor in front of the oven watching it. Then I realized I had this large blank space in the back corner and the Jawa was added. His frond fan was a major pain. I made 3 different ones before I got one that wasn't so heavy it bent the wire used to make the stem.

I was dreading the little cyclops pig spouts on the front of the throne until I came up with the idea of making one and them making a mold from it. It really helped out a lot!

This whole project was unbelievable fun! I can't wait to see everyone's and May The Force Be With You! :D I'll link to WiP photos in my comments.
