Maybe it was because, on the exact same night that Lex Luthor finally realised his lifelong ambition, by shooting Superman in the chest with a kryptonite bazooka, hell officially announced that there was no more room there. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that, when he fell off the mezzanine in the Tromaville Chemical plant, he landed in a vat of something viscous, green and faintly glowing.
