A burning kiss broke the taboo
A burning shame gave birth to you
I smooth your hair; all will be fine
Sleep in my arms, sweet babe of mine

A burning stare on every face
A burning rage gives little grace
You've split this town right down the line
Sleep in my arms, sweet babe of mine

A burning cross out on the lawn
A burning house that lit the dawn
Now in this box of rough hewn pine
Sleep in my arms, sweet babe of mine

I feared these nights would end like this,
That you would not accept my kiss,
Nor hold me, as a true love might -
My love, we could have owned the night.

They come for me, in hate and fear,
With morning's call my time draws near.
Yet still you won't forego the light -
My love, we could have owned the night.

These dreadful choices I must make!
To run, or face the blade and stake?
To leave you here, without a fight?
My love, we could have owned the night.

My love, transcend this mortal coil,
And never die, corrupt or spoil.
How can you say it is not right?
My love, we could have owned the night.

A summer's day in Central Park
Where hand-in-hand we strolled 'til dark
I kissed you there beneath a tree
Your heart will always stay with me

We said our vows, no more alone
The diamond on your finger shone
A kiss then sealed eternity
Your heart will always stay with me

One day you left and said good-bye
I never understood just why
I'll get you back one day, you'll see
Your heart will always stay with me

I found you hiding, then my blade
Found that from which your pulse was made
Now in my hand, it's beating free
Your heart will always stay with me

The toilet's clogged, the faucet drips,
The toast is burned, my pant seat rips.
This morning's just a cruel, cruel jest.
How can I have a life more blessed?

The bus is late and then it's packed.
My seatmate is a tad past cracked.
The job once loved I now detest.
How can I have a life more blessed?

I walk back through the door at six,
Exhausted by the day's harsh tricks.
He runs and hugs his daddy's chest,
How can I have a life more blessed?

'Cross darkened moon the raven flies
With loss and mourning in his eyes.
'Twas sworn that we would never part,
As darkness falls upon my heart.

The inky night she casts her spell,
And so the bird released from Hell
Makes suffering a work of art,
As darkness falls upon my heart.

A feathered heart, still beating, tore
The raven's soul from nevermore.
Now from this world two souls depart,
As darkness falls upon my heart.

I'm sorry dear, it seems that I
Forgot to pick up milk and bread
At least I have discovered why
There's no more room inside my head

Past promises inside my mind
Old secrets kept that can't be shed
A life of memories confined
There's no more room inside my head

All that I've seen and touched and heard
Ambitions, sorrows, words unsaid
The sum of all that has occurred
There's no more room inside my head

So please forgive me when I fail
And can't recall what you've just said
I try, but it's to no avail
There's no more room inside my head

She orders me around all day.
She never lets me out to play.
She always has too much to drink.
My grandmother's a witch, I think.

I wash the clothes, I sweep the rug.
She screams that I'm a lazy slug.
I clean the toilet, scrub the sink.
My grandmother's a witch, I think.

She speaks in tongues when she gets mad.
I think she killed my mom and dad.
Her cauldron makes the kitchen stink.
My grandmother's a witch, I think.

Blurry-eyed, an excited child
glories in the lights of the tree.
Where an angel looked down and smiled.
A whisper of memories past.

Teary-eyed, his moment of joy
shows in his face for all to see.
An angel's given him a boy.
A whisper of memories past.

Faded eyes, that have seen so much
look past the gathered family.
The angel's kiss, her look, her touch.
A whisper of memories past.

If only troubled times were few
My island free from what is due
When will the seeds of joy be sown
Oh Lord, don’t leave me here alone

Ten years have I been left adrift
Torn from the Lord’s all blessed gift
My garden now is overgrown
Oh Lord, don’t leave me here alone

Where is he now my long lost muse?
The part of me I couldn’t lose
But lost is he, from heart is flown
Oh Lord, don’t leave me here alone

slapped me with a crazy label
when someone saw my blood had spilled
writhing on the doctor’s table
my dreams remaining unfulfilled

I wouldn’t swallow pills they forced
so holes into my head were drilled
my ragged screaming kept me hoarse
my dreams remaining unfulfilled

eventually I stabbed a nurse
and in return they had me killed
forever buried with a curse
my dreams remaining unfulfilled
