loosely based on this pose.

My tablet pen broke shortly after the initial sketching so the majority of this picture was done with mouse, I wasn't up to trying to change any of the main details by mouse so He's stuck with that silly prong-giant fork thing. I intended him to have a bare head and hands initially, but drawing the face was too hard for me, so I stuck a helmet on instead.

Critique very, very welcome, there's going to be countless little things I forgot to finish at the end.

I'm in the middle of a blackout, and my references are on a computer that I can't access, but if anyone is interested, I can have them up by friday. they are all very vague sources, just to get the feel for how to draw the rocks, scales, fins, and her back.
She is an innocent mermaid transfixed and curious about a strange, magical light while investigating some rocky portion of the ocean.
PLEASE critique!! This is my first illustration entry!!

A scene from north Norway of a fjord over looking the sea with the mythical looking lofoten islands in the back ground as the sun sets. Oil paint on canvas, carved wood, brass and copper. Painting 178cm - 86cm.
Full Title - Idit lahkona, fas oktill badjanan, which is a translation from the Sami language, which means something along the lines of "The sun sets over the sea setting the mountains on fire" (The two languages are so difrent that exact translation is dificult).
