AB 'Banjo' Paterson is undoubtedly the most popular Australian balladist. He was born at Narambla, near Orange in New South Wales on the 17th of February 1864. He was the first born of Andrew Bogle Paterson, a scot who arrived in Australia in 1850, and his wife Rose Isabella (nee Barton). For more on Paterson go to Banjos page with a link to Banjos Poetry.
