The Valkyries, were warrior maidens who attended Odin, ruler of the gods. The Valkyries rode through the air in brilliant armor, directed battles, distributed death lots among the warriors, and conducted the souls of slain heroes to Valhalla, the great hall of Odin.

This young lady is Skadi. She was a giantess, and was the goddess the Norse associated with hunting, winter and skiers. She had a working relationship with the Valkyrie, and had the usual array of godly charms and trappings. The thunderbolt arrow is artistic licence, but I feel it's what a hunters' god would use...

Thors wife Sif had a serious head of hair. Loki had a strange sense of humor. Loki saw an opportunity for a make-over. Mythological mayhem ensued, but Sif got a new head of hair in the end :)

Freya
Old Norse Freyja
Goddess of fertility and war. Originally one of the Vanir. She was the daughter of Njord, and the sister of Frey. Her daughters, by Od, are named Hnoss, who is so beautiful that whatever is valuable and lovely is named "treasure" after her, and Gersemi.

She lived in Folkvang [battlefield] and each day chose half of the slain warriors to split with Odin. She had a husband named Od, whom she somehow lost and cried golden tears for. Many believe Od is Odin.

Her chariot was drawn by male cats (their names are never stated) and she owned the precious Brisings' necklace, which she slept with four dwarves to acquire :{ She also owned a feather coat which she could use to fly between the worlds.

Some sources say Friday is named after her.
