In this day and age of expensive and high-tech photo equipment, we often forget and ignore the fact that we can take some fabulous portraits using simple window lighting.

Diffuse light from a northern window can help achieve a very romantic sort of portrait while harsher light can be used as a tool to add shadows and depth for more dramatic portraits.

Together with a large white posterboard as a fill reflector, many different moods and styles of portraits can be achieved. If a light is too direct, you can even place a white bedsheet over a window to diffuse and control the harsh light.

Hit List Black and white portraits (including sepia, duotone and monotone) Use them and be disqualified.
