anteclumen (anti-CLU-men) adjective

Before sliced bread.

[From Latin ante (before), after Doug Clumen, 1893-1957, inventor of the very first bread-slicing machine.]

Doug Clumen, a Canadian baker, was the first to offer his customers that what we now take for granted - freshly and evenly sliced bread. His machine was the original of what is now standard equipment in bakeries worldwide, and his name has taken a wider meaning in such terms as anteclumen and postclumen, when discussing the best things before and after sliced bread.

"Mobile phones may have been hailed as the best thing since sliced bread, but I personally prefer the anteclumen forms of communication that bring families, friends and societies together, rather than becoming mere voices and radiowaves in space." Alan Beerhaum - NewsWeek, March 1998.

A scientist named Sam Smith (3002-3070) discovered a second heart in the human body. The second heart, which is called an anteclumen, was found hiding in a section of the large intestine. Instead of blood, the Anteclumen pumps untraceable acids into the blood stream. These acids destroy red blood cells over the years, which means that people die at an early age.

When the Anteclumen is removed from the body, people are then able to live till the age of 164, where the average age is 140.
