I let the incense stick burn and let the smoke rise and then I lit the smoke with a off camera flash, placing it at a 45 degrees angle from the smoke so that the smoke acts like prism hence giving bands of different colors.

Of the 150 pictures I took and could have burnt the house down, much to the amusement of my children, this was the second one! It obviously all went downhill after a flying start.Auto levels decided the smoke had to be green and the red 'pot' is a candle jar. The original smoke and the jar were lit by window sunlight with the background black in the shade...
I used a few light sources, the main one being an LED light. That made the blue color pop out!
Had a few smoke bombs left over from the 4th so I played with them a little.
I like how the gunsmoke seems to dance around the fireworks.Ex = 10sec's, F stop = 22, 100 film.
