I was shocked by understanding that Snowwhite's 7 dwarves have DIFFERENT names in various languages :)

Love any of you to add the names in your own.

Let me start with the Italian names which for 47 years I thought were the TRUE ones :)

Pisolo,Dotto,Gongolo,Eolo,Mammolo,Brontolo,Cucciolo

Ciao
Bob

Alergico? lolz!

But Bob, I hate to disappoint you... the sven dwarves really have no names at all. Disney found those names, they're not named in the original fairytale.

Yeah, Walt found them under a rock one day while wandering around the Hollywood hills. :D

The names of the Seven Dwarfs ("Bashful", "Doc", "Dopey", "Grumpy", "Happy", "Sleepy" and "Sneezy") were created for this production, chosen from a pool of about fifty potentials. Among them, "Awful", "Hoppy", "Weepy", "Dirty", "Cranky", "Hungry", "Sneezy-Wheezy", "Lazy", "Snoopy", "Goopy", "Wistful", "Soulful", "Gabby-Blabby", "Crabby", "Flabby", "Helpful", "Tearful", "Deafy", "Thrifty", "Shifty", "Nifty" and "Biggo-Ego".

To heck with that. I have a number of bumbling dwarves story and was searching for names Disney didn't copyright. That list is exactly what I needed. The dwarves in my stories are complete flakes, the kind you call in as handymen so they can destroy your house for you. That fits nicely.

bevissimo said 6 years ago 2/15/2008 11:01:20 AM EDT

I was in a travelling production of Snow White, so we talked a lot about it. A lot of people think the Disney names are synonymous with symptoms of Cocaine use.

Isn't that, like, a politically incorrect slur against handymen?
;)
