Nice pictures, Nick. I especially like that second one.

Amazing! Great mood :D
Good job with these nedens, great to see 'real' images rather than posed ones. I must have been absent from the site for a while though because I thought you only had one girl!

Interesting picture, really cool shapes created by the repeating patterns. Is that done in camera? If so, how?

Nope, this is pure PP, 4 layers, the top 3 set to lighten and opacity decreasing in steps of 20%.
I'm so terrified of Geese. They actually chased me once, and holed me up in a car, a whole gaggle of them, hissing and snapping at me. You're a braver person than I am getting that close to take a photo like that!I'm still plodding along experimenting with the 50mm/430 EX combo.
Even stepped out of my comfort zone and did some cloning and selective desaturation this time. I don't do much selective editing, mostly because I'm bad at it.[Edited by User on 3/24/2009 7:51:52 AM]

Are you diffusing the light from the flash at all, or bouncing it? You're getting really nice soft lighting from it.
I'm doing a fair bit of bouncing. I really like the effect of bouncing over the shoulder into an open room. I very rarely do the direct ceiling bounce that some seem to recommend, it just seems to be a recipe for raccoon eyes. At worst, if I have to bounce forwards, I'll normally try and angle it so that I hit a meeting point between wall and ceiling (which was the method used above). The Planet Neil blog has been a very good place for me to begin the learning process, not so much because the techniques are good, because they're fantastic, but mostly because it gets me paying as much attention as to where the flash head is pointed as to where the camera itself is. It's not a big DIY or gear centric type of blog, just one that makes you stop and think about what you're doing.
From a real estate shoot yesterday. The first one is an HDR of 2 exposures. The interiors came out great - you wouldn't believe how dark this house was. I think all their bulbs were 20W. I have a new flash with a new diffuser I was trying out. I think I'll be using them all the time!

They didn't turn it on yet.I have some rare images where it's actually activated. Works really well!
priceless.

I shot my first 2 rolls of 120 film (Ilford Delta 400 pro),developed them in the bathroom and scanned the negatives. The shuter times of the old camera are quite off so the negatives tend to be overexposed. I hope I will be able to fix the shutter because I really start to fall in love with the look of analog film ;) (or I just need to get a Hassi)Here are some results...More in my Ikoflex set on Flickr[Edited by User on 3/22/2009 9:39:14 AM]
As someone who learned to shoot with a HassE let me tell you...you don't need one. I no longer own a Hasse, but I DO own a Minolta Autocord, and a Rolleiflex. Seriously...the real advantage of the Hasselblad is the Sonnars 150+, the bokeh on these lenses (especially the old ones) is simply stupid. The Planars? meh...sharp yeah, flat yeah, unwonky yeah, better than a Tessar? Yes, but not by much. Distagons? very sweet...but stupid expensive. Stick with your Iko and if you REALLY have a hankering for a MF 6x6 SLR grab a Kowa, or even a Kiev. We used to have 4 500CM bodies on every shoot because often they jammed and without warning. How many Mamiya C330 backups did we carry? None...because the things are tank tough and almost never fail (unless you abuse them).

That's interesting. Thanks for the insight.Do you know anything about the Zenza Bronica SQ-Ai? They seem to be similar to the Hasselblads but prices aren't that steep. I really like the compact size of a Hasse compared to the bulkiness of some others I've seen so far (especially Mamiya RB/RZ).[Edited by User on 3/27/2009 6:12:56 AM]

Some nice shots practice...welcome to Worth! Now start entering some contests. :)Blurmore...I had a Kowa. My first medium format. I loved it but the lenses would lose their timing every year. Very frustrating.[Edited by User on 3/27/2009 7:40:23 AM]
Guess where I stopped by today and do you know who this man is? :)Photos must be 75K or lessWas thinking of shooting this for the Landmark contest but wasn't sure how to approach such a large complex and get a good representative shot. The atrium and stadium are really beautiful. Our tax dollars at work. We (the county) voted to help the Packers build a new Stadium a few years back. Wish I had access to the field. I found out a guided tour would do that for as price so I may go back sometime.[Edited by Moderator on 4/12/2009 4:23:57 PM]
