Isn't it so true that some people look just like their dogs? In this case I think she looks like a mixture of both of hers!

That's a great photo of the stag, cycoze. The DOF is just perfect. If you look long enough at the stag it seems almost 3D and it looks like it gets detached from the background!

Nice captures Craigr. The mood is great, and the high iso is hardly noticeable. Great colors too.
I wish there were more faces/expressions in it though.
That usually adds a lot of character and tells a great deal about the general mood of the event. Did you leave them out on purpose?

Great capture SigloV! The square crop is well chosen. I think she looks more like the dog on the right.
The colors are great. I would have removed the bright sign above the bin. Without those green/blue colors the overall palette is really warm and balanced.

Here's an electric wire sticking out of the ground. I found it interesting.

Great shot, ufo! Maybe if you follow it you'll find the other end... attached to a phone inside a casket!

Here's a 6-second ride in a friend's car:

Harry, that looks like a stock market graph. The bright line on the far right going straight down represents my 401k account.

begabbelse said 3 years ago 1/28/2009 7:31:02 AM EDT

I took this one about a week ago when my class was on a skiing tripp. We were playing in the snow and Bo wanted to take shots of him falling.. He hit the ground quite hard.

Now you did it. Any mention of "401(k)" throws me into a fit of long, blubbery sobs.

You're right! Her face looks like the one on the right and her body fits the boxy one on the left.

This gives me an idea, I should start a blog on "The Straining Dogs of Britain"

Well...I got a new toy yesterday! A Nikon D90. :) So, have been studying and learning. Now I have no excuse for not entering more contests as most all of my entries were shoeboxed.

We have an opossum that has been staying beneath the shed in our backyard. We suspect it is sharing the den of the groundhog that lives there. I've never before seen this or knew of it, but it has been coming out to feed as soon as the weather gets half way decent. I always thought they hibernated. Anyway, caught him at the bird feeder. Used a 70-300mm through the window. He was just a little guy.

He is so very cute, and that's a great shot. Very well done.

Love the opossum! :-) And hope you're enjoying the d90, it looks to be a great camera!

Just a quick shot today of one of my friends and her son. I'd finally put the zoom lens back on after the 30 day challenge, but the light for this was so poor that the 105mm F2.8 came back out again...

Beautiful shot Craig - just love that window light and shallow DoF.

He's one of the sun behind the clouds over the sea to Ailsa Craig today...

This much, yes. It's been 18 years since we had anything like this.

The whole country is naturally in chaos!

People I work with are amazed that I got into work from 35 miles away! LOL!

Perhaps in part you are lucky that they are not clearing the snow. When the tractors come past my drive with the snowploughs they deposit tons of snow on the end of the drive. I had just finished digging it out this morning and woosh, another one went past!

We have had several large snowfalls this year and they all had freezing weather forcast to follow, which means I have to shovel everything off my drive and yard (my drive is about 200 yards) or it is impossible to get in and out once it's frozen.

The forcast this time is for the temp. to go up so I am crossing my fingers and doing the minimum necessary. This year has been exceptional for snow, and I am learning to hate it!

No such thing as a snow plough in London! They throw down a bit of salt and if that doesn't solve the problem, then everyone just goes around scratching their heads! ;)

Wonderful shots those Craigr, superb use of the light as well. How do you protect your camera from the snow?

I have been shooting snow with PanF, but you won't see any of my shots until it get's a bit warmer in the darkroom :D

My camera body is weather sealed, so I keep my hand over the lens and that's about it! :-)

Another one I liked from today. Snowboarders aren't something you usually see in South London parks! But these ones were great about having their photo taken!

There is a LOT to be said for having a weather sealed camera! You don't see many snowboarders round here either, but my son took the wheels off his skateboard and managed to slide down the hill beyond our house on it, and I have no pics because it was snowing and it is such a pain faffing about with an umbrella!

SigloV said 3 years ago 2/2/2009 1:39:45 PM EDT

Wow Craig & MrN - you are so lucky to have snow - we haven't got any here in Troon :-(

Your shots are simply beautiful.

madame_ava said 3 years ago 2/2/2009 1:47:16 PM EDT

Wonderful snow pics! Mr. N, I love the snowball guys! I have to assume they know each other or someone is about to get his ass kicked and there is lack of subsequent ass kicking photos. :D

Craig, I love love love the train station photo. wow.

Ha..I can truly say now that I shot these today. Two lighthouses.
Man it was cold out.

ercolano said 3 years ago 2/3/2009 6:28:39 PM EDT

Two grat shots Northman, but I particularly like the second one. Presumably this is the shorline of the great lakes?
