always a willing subject
benkadotus, I enjoy your lion pics! What a beauty. We've got 3 lions here, & what characters they are. Our newest, a Siamese named Cleo, is most entertaining!
Where have all the people gone?Today we went to the Ice caves. the little specks at the edge of the snow are the people.
this is what it looks like inside. i had to overexpose so you could see inside. it is perpetually raining inside from the snow melting.
some other photos from the day

Beautiful Pics
How far in can you go? I think I would be scared of a collapse, but really neat.Love the bridge one.
You're not supposed to go in at all because the danger is very real. People have gotten killed by chunks of ice falling on them. But you could theoretically go all the way up the mountain. The caves are formed by the waterfall running underneath the snow.
I found billions of butterflies in a field of yellow flowers. Fun!
Do you believe in ghost?
Wow, Pretty cool effect ama, Is that a long shutter speed with a second curtain shutter (flash)? I like it!And harry, that buterfly pic is amazing, I love the color in the background![Edited by User on 8/16/2009 7:21:58 PM]
Bumblebee feasting, he was practically bathing in this flower lol.

Thanks, it was more of a mistake. I was walking backwards and there was a bit of delay in the flash. ;)
This place needs a jump start! :)Desert sunset in the dry wash behind my house. Really beautiful how the desert turns golden as the sunlight sets over the desert brush.
A butterfly that stopped and posed for me. It gave me a break from photographing the hundred screaming kids at camp. :)
Such a proud and lovely butterfly, celticfrog.
This evenings campfire while camping in the forest in northern Arizona.
Nice fire pete. looks like a fun time in the woods.I went to the beach during low tide. you can see where the water line usually is, about 2/3 up the pole. the wood is covered with barnacles and muscles.

I love your shot benkadotus, have you used a bit of HDR there?
this is a single RAW file with adjustments to dynamic range. the sahdowy areas started out almost completely black. it's amazing what you can find in the shadows.

I really love that texture on the second one. It looks like an amazing place. Where is it?
you mean the snow caves? they are in the north cascades along the mountain loop highway. here, let me google that for you.
We went to a wildlife preserve yesterday and naturally, I took pictures...this little gal had a few babies with her. I was too late in seeing her so she is not quite focused but besides the geese, this is the only "wildlife" we saw. I guess berries could also be considered wildlife??Anyway it was a fun day and the best $3.00 hike we have had in a long time. (Our state parks charge a fee to enter)
Couple of views from the Dolomites:
