northman saidStill a very pretty bird.
Oh absolutely. I'd love to get a good shot of one, but I don't have your patience, so I doubt that's going to happen. This is the best I've got:
And that's zoomed in 100% :-(Canon 70-300mm IS
Thank you.
Thanks very much.
A scouter demonstrating firestarting with flint and steel. It took a half dozen tries to catch the spark.
Is that cotton? I imagine that will flash up pretty good.
Yes, that's cotton batting. The fire lit on that spark.
Been real busy with a wedding coming up next week. Shot a series for the pre-wedding photos last week. I used an HDR treatment on a single exposure to bring back the sky on this one. The original exposure is f/2.8 at 1/8000 sec; high speed sync with fill flash. Technically an extremely challenging shot.
I like everything in the foreground but the sky is distracting for me. Was the sky overexposed before?
I love that shot fishcat, although as a wedding shot I might have been more inclined to dodge and burn at a RAW level for a more subtle effect rather than using tonemapping.
Nice weather today. For ducks, and me!
Beautiful.
Last night I attended a movie premiere in our little town! It is called "Feed the Fish" and was written and directed by Tony Shaloub's nephew, Michael Matzdorff. They filmed it north of here in Door County, Wis. last winter, where we happened to be vacationing for a few days. While there, we ran into the director and part of his crew while sitting beside them having breakfast. We had such a nice visit that some of us decided to go to the showing. Plus, I love watching the Monk series so wanted to see the man in person. We had to be in the balcony of the theater so I had to shoot down. I used my 70-300mm and finally turned on my camera flash and jumped it up enough to shed some light on the subject. :-) It was fun to be there. It was free too! After the screening it was Q&A time.
Mingling afterward.
Nice weather today. For ducks, and me!Wow, Harry, I love your love for ducks! This one is gorgeous!
northman, This is exciting stuff!! I'm going to email this to my eldest son who just loves the Monk show!
Northman, I am SO jealous! Mrs 122 & I were planning on going to the premier, but family obligations trumped the show. Good for you!
Haha...thanks. Sorry you missed it. It was a full house and the lower floor was VIP only. So the cast and others filled in there. The Meyer is a beautiful little theater. "Monk" is on his way to New York to be in a play.A little side story...my wife's family and the Shaloub's used to ski together as kids. Small town stuff. :)
Oh how cool to see Monk live in person. We had reruns here occasionally during dinertime so we used to watch it with diner on the couch - I know .... very bad habit
I shot this with my cell phone.
Phosphorescent toys having a party. Lit with their own light. Why can't all subjects be self illuminating?
...self illuminating blue jellybeans.....
