Yes, you heard that right.Jax gave us his GO, and we are finally, finally going to have our very first AUDIO contest. As so many of you were eagerly waiting for this, we decided to reward your patience and enthusiasm by making it a CODE contest. Remember CODE? It is where YOU can decide what the contest will be!The Rules are thus:
Voting is open!
The (ten) Commandments of Worth:Invent our very own commandments, the things every true Worthian has to abide by. Record them. Distort your voice or underlay a score to make it sound more imposing and commanding. You can make 5 - 10 commandments.
Soundtrack of a PictureWe choose a picture. Compose and mix a soundtrack/score that fits this picture and portrays its mood. Everyone uses the same picture.
Five Notes to PlayWe give you a simple 5 note sequence. You have to use this sequence as the central theme/motif in any genre, tempo, meter, and rhythm you want.
Nursery Rhyme ReloadedTake a nursery rhyme and redo it. Rap it gangsta style. Sing as if you were Maria Callas. Turn it into a country song. It's totally up to you.
Music From Non-Music SourcesMix your own little piece of music but it must all come from non-music sources. What are non-music sources? Well, every day noises: Transport, office, kitchen, human beings (except singing, of course), animal noises, you name it. You can restrict yourself to one of them or use all of those wildly, and others.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to a regular audio arena. :)
Well, as for now, Multimedia IS the regular AUDIO arena. And we will run Audio contest on a regular basis. Promise. :)It just took us some time to get started and figure out the technical details.
Only 5 options? Last CODE had 10 =(
I'd love to do the Nursery Rhyme hip hop stylee;-)
Tough to choose! How long will this Audio contest be open for submissions?
I am thinking 10 days or 2 weeks - enough time to think and find sources, but not so long as to obssess and tweak endlessly. If that seems too short or too long, speak up and we can do our best to make it work for the most players. The time limit will be fairly short - 2 or 3 minutes probably - so everyone will listen through all of the entries.ETA: there are so many good ideas listed in the audio contest thread, I think we will be able to keep this going for a long time. I am sooooo excited.
Go go go! Soundtrack of a Picture!
5 Notes! Go!
After seeing (er, hearing) the results from the first audio hxh, I can't wait to find out what you talented sound people come up with next! Almost want to try it out, but I have zero equipment to work with (a webcam microphone just doesn't cut it). And I've never written music (which wouldn't really be a showstopper--lack of talent rarely stops me from doing stuff).
count me in ...2-3-4(soundtrack to a picture)
+ in reply to...
If it is not reciting something - you do not need recording equipment - all kinds of clips and the like are available on the web.So go vote for one you can compose of sources (just like effects but loud)
Very cool. This would be a great deal of fun.
Yay! I can't wait! It's been way too long since I've composed anything.**runs off to practice**

If composition becomes a recurring contest theme, I can try to write up something about basic theory. It's surprisingly easy once you do a bit of it.
:D:D!!
I'll have to direct my BF to this page when he gets home! :D
Vote placed. Comment bump.
I just might be able to recruit a new Worthian with this
