One of the reasons I got into Worth1000 was to better my skills in Photoshop, both by entering the contests and receiving feedback. But the last few contests I've entered, it seems like no one is critiquing the entries; all I see is an occasional "looks cool" and plenty of praise if you get a trophy. I miss hearing the opinions of my fellow artists, what happened?

I would say probably because your entries are getting better but if you specifically ask for it then you will recieve it.

Once upon a time there was a guy and he was with another guy and then he saw a third guy and said look its thatguy3.

I agree with ThatGuy, I took a look at your entries, and there's nothing really wrong with them: your lighting is mostly correct, as are shadows, colours are coordinated, no rough edges or anything of the sort. That is not to say the images are perfect, but what you lack is experience, and that just comes with time and practice. Again, you're always welcome to post in the Critic's Corner - then you'll get a very precise critique on details. ;) Alternatively, you can always ask for a private pre-contest critique of one person (in the same Critic's Corner).

Thanks guys, but I wasn't just talking about my own pieces, but the contests as a whole. For example, I entered the "Vintage Ad" contest, barely anyone there made any comments on other pieces. I'm mostly asking my fellow Worth1000 artists to keep commenting on entries when they vote on them so we can get more feedback. Not just me.

I understand what you're saying. By reading critiques for other people one has the opportunity to use that for themselves too. Someone new to photoshop will learn from others mistakes, so to speak.

I'm going to jump in on this thread. I'm very new and I make a lot of entries to try to improve my skills. I am definately learning from other's mistakes, and its amazing what i see now when I'm going to comment on another's masterpiece. I'm not sure I even feel comfortable as a beginner commenting, but I did this week. I think this site is a great help in doing that for me. I was lucky enough to get sponsored throughout every entry -up until this last week and wondered what I did that sponsors didn't pick up my pics. I would also love to know where Critic Corner exactly is. I've read, I've looked, I've even taken the U tube online tour lol. !!!

Critics Corner is one of many Forum Tags so users know what your post is all about.

When you start a Forum Post of your own (by clicking on the 'CREATE NEW' button on the top right of the page), first thing off you'll see a drop down 'Arena' Menu - from the list, select the Arena you want your comment to be entered in.

Critics Corner is somewhere in there.

Here we are now, entertain us.

Sorry, just noticed you wondering about this:

Sponsoring is 'blind', for the most part.

Sponsors can see who is up for sponsoring, and therefore check their stats; but cannot see the actual competition entry they will be paying for.

Sponsors might take into consideration a player's history on the site when choosing to sponsor - how that person has voted, how their vote history and voting karma looks, and so on.

Whether or not your entry is picked up is down to any number of things - it might just be nobody is around with any spare credits.

Here we are now, entertain us.

as everyone said the critics corner is the right place to go, just keep in mind that if the voting isnt over you will have to ask for a private critique and work it out through PMs, after the contest is over and if you want more feedback you can also use the critics corner but this time in a more public way so that everyone can see your work and comment (like this)

By taking something everyone has seen and giving it a new perspective you'll make it unique again. By johnnytitan
