In years past, we played a game called King of the Hill.20112009/1020072006/072005/06Basically it goes like this:THE KING OF THE HILL: e.g. egonlinden (who is the current king from last time)is challenged by:Challenger XYZ whereby both commit to submit at least one photo into both advanced photography contests for the week. The one with the highest average score across both contests wins the title of King/Queen of the Hill. Rule Note: If a competitor enters more than one picture in any of the contests (Worth rules allow entry of up to three entries in any contest), they must nominate one that they are using for the KOTH game and PM egonlinden with their choice prior to voting opening. They can't just spread their odds and take the best score. Failure to indicate your preference will result in your second-best score in that contest being used for the KOTH average.STAKES: The loser gets to wear the KOTH losatar for the whole of the following week.
In the old days there used to be one extra stake. This will now be optional and all up to the loser if he/she wants to.Here it goes: The loser provides the winner with a signed print (approx size A4) of theirs. The winner gets to choose a photo from the losers gallery.The winner and reigning champ will have the priviledge of wearing the official King Of The Hill or Queen of the Hill avatar which is an honour reserved only for the greatest of the great, while they can stay that way!KOTH

Alternatively the game can move to the next challenger on the list. That a Contest Theme is just 'too hard', or 'I don't like it', will not be acceptable excuses.Anybody who would like to join the Challenger list, please PM egonlinden. Each KOTH match-up is over two contests, so it normally takes 2-3 weeks from start to finish for each matching, so it could be a couple of months before you are up if 5th in line

Yep, you would be expected to keep taking on a challenger until you lose. Once you lose you can add your name to the list again.

You want to remain KOTH for as long as you can for bragging rights ;) There is also KOTH bling for those that manage three victories in a row.

No, but did you know you can place first in both contests, win the golds and still lose KOTH?Yup. If you enter more than one image, you have to identify which is your KOTH entry before the contest begins. If you guess wrong and the image you named as your KOTH entry places lower than your opponent's, you lose the hill. (Man, that was painful.)

I think that last year cl_UK got it for 6 or 7 times in a row, so he got 2 KOTH blings.I also managed two blings and I know neither of us made it to a further three, but I can't remember whether we got more than 6.You gonna step up to the plate?
6 In a row is the max up to so far.Indeedboth kimbomac and cl_UK managed to score 6 wins in a row and losing out in the 7th battle.Kimbomac did this in 2010 and cl_UK in 2011.I know from the past that juicer has won 6 as well, I just don't know if they all were in a row.That was before my KOTH organization times, so I don't have the stats for that.You can look it back in one of the old threads linked at the top.

Today is the day that it will be done with the peace on the HILL.Today is the day the first round for 2012 kicks of.Unfortunately the reiging King (me) has abbandoned the hill and left a vacancy at the top.It is now the task of kimbomac (a KOTH veteran) to make a run for the top together with millgage (plaied 1 round in the past in the KOTH).The rules are simple, who ever is first at the top of the hill will be the first ruler of the hill for 2012.Good luck and play fair ;)The first contest for this round is: Hearts 2012.

There is little over a day left for the first contest of round 1 to get (and pick if needed) their best possible picture submitted and there is little over half a week left to get something submitted for the second contest which is: Freestyle Portrait.As you can see, even Bonus contests can bepart of a KOTH round.Good luck to both of you.

Hearts has come to an end which means we can look at the scores.As we can see kimbomac dared to enter more then 1 picture for this contest.Does that mean she has confidence enough that she is cured from her dreadfull disease of making the wrong picks.Well, for this round at least, she has been cured.She picked her Floral Heart to be the one for the KOTH and scored a decent 6.163.Millgage enterred just one and that was Be My... and scored a 5.711.This small gap in points between them means that by no means the victory for kimbomac is secured in this first round of the KOTH 2012.We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the second contest.
It does not look like I will be making up the half point from round one.These are great images in Freestyle Portraitsand all well done.
Kimbomac was brave enough to enter again 3 pictures in their second contest.Will she still be cured from the kimboselectionitus (or whatever the disease was called) or might she be infected again.Well, it is not completely clear since she picked her second best picture to be the one for the KOTH.She picked Butterfly and scored a 6.014 to get a combined average of 6.0885.It shows that participating in the KOTH sometimes can be cruel and hard, when it happens that one of the contests is a Bonus contest like now.This one proofed to be a little over millgages head.Millgage enterred A Golfers Last Walk, stil a nice picture but just not up to a competing level for this round.Therefore kimbomac succesfully took over the hill.Congrats to kimbomac and hopefully we will see millgage back soon at the bottom of the hill for a new attempt.Kimbomac will have 1 day to build her castle before the battle for round 2 starts.Her contestant for the second round wil be 6feetunder.Goord luck to both of you.

This was kind of a case of deliberate infection, since I knew my other one was better, but it was a shoeboxed one, and millgage and I agreed there would be no shoeboxing for the bonus contest...We were packing to go away for the weekend, and THEN my hard drive or memory or something in my computer failed me on Fri afternoon, so I couldn't make a good enough job of my new shots. I apologise to my faithful models as I would have liked my new shots to have done better.Thanks to millgage for the contest and hello 6feet! This should be fun!
