The boundaries of architecture are always being expanded.
Ever since humans first decided to dwell in caves, we have tried to come up with innovative ways to improve the design of our homes.
From huts to houses, camps to castles, there are almost endless ways we have tried to develop buildings that combine comfort and practicality.
But there is an increasing interest in more obscure grand designs and brilliantly bizarre ways to assemble four walls and a roof.
So with that in mind, the creative community at Worth1000.com, who are now part of DesignCrowd, envisioned its own random examples of real estate.
The Bizarrchitecture contests have pulled in hundreds of designs over the years, from the crazy, to the magical, mysterious, and darn right fantastical.
But there have been some that have sparked an "are they-aren't they real" debate.
The validity of some of the below images was questioned on snopes.com, who were able to clear up the confusion. But I terms of creativity and design execution they are certainly real winners.
