The turtle and the rabbit by JaxomLOTUS
16th place entry in Alternate Endings

The rabbit, seeing just how far ahead of the turtle he was, decided to take a nap in a nice cozy glen on the side of the road.

"I can lie here for 2 hours, easy, before the turtle even gets halfway to the finish line," thought the rabbit. And with that he closed his eyes and lay down.

The turtle, meanwhile kept trudging along, inch by inch, foot by foot, mile by mile. And as time and the turtle marched on, he began to inch closer and closer to the finish line.

Two hours passed, and the rabbit woke sleepily from his nap.

"Hmm, I must have overslept," he thought nervously, and then laughed to himself at the thought of the turtle winning the race.

Jogging he made it to the finish line and won the race with ease. A passing eagle told him that the turtle was still miles behind.

He went to the trophy table and excitedly asked for his grand prize, a bowl of cereal. The young children judging the historic race looked at him with disdain and shook their heads.

"Silly rabbit, trix are for kids."

THE END.
