Author's Note:

One Very Large Goldfish Cracker! Equal to about 500 regular sized cheese crackers according to the recipe. It wasn't quite as crisp as the original, but it has that florescent orange color thanks to the Secret Ingredient of Kraft Mac and Cheese powdered cheese packets!

Recipe:
1 cup (8 oz) all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 pkgs dry cheese powder from Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.
3 Tablespoons shortening
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt (for tops)
Sift dry ingred. together in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk until dough becomes sticky, then add a couple tablespoons flour until you can handle the dough easily. Knead dough for about a minute, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour. Normally roll out 1/16th of an inch thick, cut into 1 inch square (for Cheez-Itz) or fish shapes, sprinkle with salt and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes. Stir them up a bit and bake another 3-5 minutes. This was two recipes worth and baked for 25 minutes.
