Author's Note: Hiking in Yosemite National Park on a snowless, cloudy winter day, this sun-lit patch of ground in a small clearing beckoned me to stop, sit for awhile and enjoy the sounds of the forest before continuing my trek. Fortunately, I thought to take a picture of this magical spot before the sun disappeared and I continued on my way.
