why is the saber curved?

In my honest idea, I think it's to go with a curved sword appearance, since this theme's mixing with an older time where swords were the choice of weapon. I can't say it's fact though, that's just my interpretation.

Which I think is pretty creative for this theme. Really nice job right here :3
