Author's Note: Photographed from the extremely rare and secrete section of the oldest and most historic samurai sushi scrolls found in the Japanese mountains.
Please note: these fish are very hard to come by, near impossible to find in your local sushi venue, hence the price is decided by the highest bidder and is often in the millions. It is said that shedding the blood of 17 virgins will secure this ocean-dwelling beast in one of your well placed fishing nets, however this has not yet been proven..
It is true that only the blade of the most seasoned samurai worrior can slide and dice this magnificant animal.
A feast amongst kings: This exotic species was commonly refered to in the ancient samurai scrolls as the kamikaze fish. To date only 12 have been caught, the past 11 found themselves in the clutches of the bamboo chopsticks of some of the most powerful asian leaders, Gengus Khan being the last known. It is rumoured that he devoured two in one sitting, 1 of them being stored in salt for over a century.
In fact it has been proven that the Japanese derived the word Kamikaze from this mysterious fish, based on the suicidal attempts hundreds of men made just to have one glimpse and/or smell of this magnificant and succulent creature.
Please note - this photo was not actualy taken from a menu. I have this very fish in my freezer, $34.98 inc postage. Please feel free to contact me, i am able to post in a cooler with ice.
Many thanks to the wonderful people on SXC for the tuna, sushi, textures and scroll sources.
