Author's Note:

Some Katydids, rip open the edges of gum leaves, and insert the eggs of baby katydids. They then sew them closed with silken spider web like material and spit. yummy. I sat and watched this Katydid in my own back yard for about 30 minutes, as she deposited her eggs. You can see the little bulge in the edge of the leaf where the eggs have been deposited.

Another interesting thing, is she really camouflaged herself by exposing the inner yellow and magenta, like the surrounding flowers and leaves, (only while in this unprotected position of egg depositing), as you can tell by the background. When she straightened up as if to hop away, and she looks all green again.

Bugs are very amazing. And gross.
