Author's Note: She was lost in one of a myriad of winding passages. Stone walls covered with a damp moisture that suggested decay, and outright refused climbing. Not that she would. The walls and passages had trebled in their scale as she progressed deeper into the maze. Besides...things moved around in the shadows above the dim light cast by the immense candles hung from the walls...
While in somber contemplation of what they might be, she realized she heard something, and chastised herself for not hearing it sooner. Footfalls that sent small shudders through the stones set in the floor...and through her bones. Whatever it was, it was HUGE, and it was close. And the snorting; like a wild boar in search of a truffle (at least that's the image that came to her mind). That image didn't last however.
The footfalls and snorting stopped, and a voice bellowed out from far too close, shaking dust from loose stones with it's volume: "If you taste half as wonderful as you smell, I will indeed be very pleased!"
She saw the world swim before her eyes, and tried to brace herself as a literal and figurative darkness fell across her. A giant shadow swallowed her...and she passed out.
