From a myth in the main source book of Norse mytholgy, The Poetic Edda. Loki (the trickster god represented by the choatic shapes down the right) was punished by the other gods for his part in the death of Baldr. Chained to a rock he has poison dropped on his head forever, but his wife Sigyn catches the poison, but when she empties her cup the pain Loki is in causes earthquakes. Sigyn is shown as two women, to show her both catching the poison and in the act of emptying the cup
